Digital Exposure

Exposing for digital images is much more critical than using negative film. There is far less exposure latitude than film and digital cameras must also be white balanced for the color of the light source. Proper exposure and white balancing are a must if you desire consistent images with proper color. Files that are overexposed can not be corrected properly by simply printing down. If your white balance is not correct for the light source, color inaccuracies are certain.

If you desire us to color correct your files we will make every effort to strive for the best color possible, however, we cannot be held responsible for files that are blown out due to overexposure or extremely off color due to improper white balancing.

To assist you in proper exposure and white balancing, Garrett and Lane has created a Garrett and Lane white balancing kit. This kit is comprised of an 8x10 target print and a CD with the same image to adjust your monitor to Garrett and Lane standards. The kit also contains a 10x14 white balancing exposure card that is proven to yield consistent color and exposure for your digital files.
